Include the main code for DXL attribute from a common network location, to which (and the inc files) you have all rights and users only read access.
See "File inclusion" in DXL Help.

You can restrict users from modifying code by specifying "Read-only" access to Attribute Definition.
Choose to edit attribute, and specify R access to required users under the tab "Access (Definition)".
Hope this helps.

Sudarshan

Hi, Markinen
Could you please interpret it in details, sample codes are more appreciated, thanks!

If you specify just R access for a user to attribute definition, the user cannot view the code. All options in "Edit Attribute" dialog box will be greyed out.

Aven, if you really want to hide the code even from other DXL programmers (who can still get your code by using +AttrDef ad = find("yourSecretAttribute",mod); print ad.dxl+) you would need to encrypt the code using the Telelogic/IBM tool and then put only an "#include <encryptedCode.inc>" in your attribute DXL. While the DOORS encryption is not unbreakable, it is probably safe enough to prevent spying users from taking a look at your code. Regards, Mathias

Hi, SudarshanRao
It's really amazing, I'd try it at once, thanks for your advice!

Hi, Mathias
I'm greatly attracted by your advice. Would you please tell me some more details!
About the "*.inc" file, I found it in the DOORS setup directory, and couldn't open it, I had a great curiosity in it, how could I make it myself and by which tools would realize it, thanks!
Looking for your reply!
Sincerely, Aven

Hi Aven, I looked at the IBM Website, I could not find the encryption tool. I know such a tool exists - maybe someone else can help here?

Copying one of my comments from LinkedIn DOORS group:
The DXL excryption software for DOORS 9.0 and versions prior to that can be downloaded from the "Telelogic DOORS product legacy downloads" page at
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21380552
(select 9.0 to find the encrypt tool)
9.2 encryption tool is included in the 9.2 download, which you can find if you navigate the horrible mess of IBM pages starting from customer sign on to Passport Advantage etc..
https://www-112.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/passportadvantage/paocustomer/passporthome.nsf/pao/startpage_en_us?OpenDocument
(is the page where I landed after logging on)
From here onwards it was possible to find the DOORS downloads and checking the contents of the Multilingual 9.2 package the encryption tool is included.
